David Wise of Indianapolis, was sentenced to 20 years in jail, all of which were suspended.
He was ordered to spend 8 years of home confinement. After two months, Wise violated the terms of his sentence and was ordered to serve 5 years in prison.
The judge told the victim, Mandy Boardman, to forgive her husband. Boardman, 36, told the police that her husband had been drugging her for at least three years and raping her in her sleep.
She also found video clips of the assaults on his phone. For years, she had been feeling sleepy for no reason and had found strange drops in her bedroom.
Sometimes, she would see powder in her drinks or wake up with a partially dissolved pill in her mouth. After she confronted her husband, he admitted that he was taking advantage of her in her sleep and then regularly raped her.
