The Director of the History Museum in Sofia, Bulgaria, Bozhidar Dimitrov, has spoken to the media recently about an idea which is expected to start a hassle in Bulgaria and specifically in Macedonia.
According to him, all Macedonians must become Bulgarians in they desire to be part of Europe.
To accomplish his goal, the former Minister for Bulgarians in the diaspora seeks to change the laws.
"From 1300 to 1944 Bulgarians have lived in Macedonia. And one day someone said that there are not Bulgarians in this geographic area, but only Macedonians. They have nothing in common with Bulgaria, they are a state and have a specific history and language. And they did do so. But recent they are having some identity problems" said Dimitrov.
Almost 500,000 Macedonians can become Bulgarians and therefore EU citizens, according to Dimitrov.
