Builders Association reacted after the decision taken by the Government to disallow construction permits all over the country. Although the Municipality of Tirana has the right to issue building permits, the mayor has placed a moratorium, blocking them, until the adoption of new regulatory plan. This attitude has faced the reaction of the Association of Builders, who appeal to Erion Veliaj to review his attitude.
The head of the Association of Builders, Maksim Muçi, requested an emergency meeting with Tirana mayor to discuss this issue and other problems that concerns this kind of business. Muçi said it can't bee discussed about licenses at a time when this sector is in a deep crisis.
"Therefore we ask necessarily the meeting with the Mayor of Tirana, in this way he may give his example, having thus the full confidence that we can resolve these things, in order to specify something about procedures to avoit obstacles. In these crisis conditions when is said you can't work, this has no sense, "said Muci for "Ora News".
About the Urbanism, Muçi said: "This is the biggest problem. Urbanism has been and remains quite unclear with many problems and that the builders have little hand in this," he further said. "In recent years, the construction sector in Albania is involved by the crisis, where its main indicator is the stocks of thousands of apartments, while construction permits have been blocked.
The Government had a decision to freeze building permits, until a new decision, expected to be realized after 61 municipalities implement a general urban plan.
For buildings over six storeys Government has decided that permits should not be given by the municipalities, but by the National Territorial Council headed by the Prime Minister Edi Rama.
