The Company's Licence that Audited Bank of Albania was removed 4 month ago

  The license of the company that had the duty to control the treasury of the Bank of Albania has been removed two months ago. Public Oversight Board of the Institute of Chartered Auditors removed Grant Thornton audit company's license in May of this year. 


This company does not appear on the public list of audit firms of the Institute of Chartered Auditors. Sources suggest for A1Report that its license has benn removed due to violation of the procedures in auditing insurance companies. On the other side, tge company has appealed this decision.

Grant Thornton Sh.pk in Tirana, according to official sources is a limited liability company created by two legal entities: Grant Thornton Skopje auditing company which shares 51% of holdings and Consulting Grant Thornton Skoje with 49%.


Grant Thornton International Ltd. is the sixth company in the world in the field of consulting and auditing and its headquarters are located in London.

This company had obtained a license from Tirana IEKA in 2009, a license that was revoked in May 2014.

According to the company's transparency report for 2013, the list of companies in the public interest that Grant Thornton has audited is as follows:

The Institute of Authorized Chartered Accountants is a professional non-profit association, which groups accounting professionals equipped with the "independent auditor" who exercise their profession in public practice independently of physical persons's status of.

While the Public Oversight Board IEKA, has among other duties and the quality control function for public interest companies. According to the regulation, the Board may decide to revoke the license, then the Registration Authority can revoke it legally, while IEKA in this case is only the implementer.
