Kosovo State shows signs against religious extremism

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, held today a joint meeting with Prime Minister Thaçi, Home Affairs Minister, Mr. Bajram Rexhepi, and leaders of the security institutions of Kosovo, KIA Director, Mr. Bashkim Smakaj, Director General of the Kosovo Police, Mr. Shpend Maxhuni, the incumbent Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Ismet Kabashi, newly appointed Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Mr. Sylë Hoxha and the Chairman of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Mr. Enver Peci, in order to discuss the prevention and combating of extremism and radicalism.

President Jahjaga emphasized the necessity for coordination of activities between all the institutions of the country, particularly between those responsible for national security, aiming to fight the phenomena threatening the stability and the security of the country, of the region and beyond.

At the meeting, institutional leaders requested that mechanisms responsible for security, must act based on the laws of Kosovo in order to incapacitate the activities, organisation and any other radical and extremist activity which threatens the lives of the citizens, not only Kosovar ones, and which aim to transform the country into a source of extremism. President Jahjaga reiterated the position stating that Kosovo will never become a shelter for and will never serve as a source to the radical and extremists groups./Express/
