A wide police operation of Durres and Kruja, with the support of the Express Intervention Force (FNSH) in Tirana, has led to the seizure and destruction of a large quantity of cannabis cultivated in the highlands of Kruja.
About 10 thousand cannabis roots, planted in 52 parcels in mountainous areas of Nike Commune were destroyed today by Durres and Kruja police.
As part of this operation, police have been able to seize 1 ton of cannabis, ready for packing. According to police the drugs were placed in a greenhouse for drying.
"During this morning, on the basis of the information we received, there was a police operation to control the highland villages of Kërcaj, Mukje, Lidar and Zgërdhesh of the Commune of Nike, Municipality of Kruja. By control of these territories became possible the identification and destruction of 9991 roots of cannabis sativa plants. Further investigation by the actions identified and defeated a ton of cannabis sativa plant, which was found harvested and placed in a greenhouse to dry," police said in the announcement.
Although drugs is cultivated in a land without owner, the police have identified some people and announced them as wanted. But their names aren't released for investigative purposes.
