Rama: Himara is Albanian territory where minority’s rights and freedoms are respected

Edi Rama

Premier Edi Rama considered on Thursday the new territorial reform of the country as a historic one, which according to him, would have great weight in the course of development of Albania.

Speaking in Parliament, the Prime Minister said that this is a fundamental reform of the Renaissance project, imposed my million Albanians on June 23. "This reform makes the local government more democratic, releases new and bigger country transforming energy, and also makes posible the integrational urban development. Territory reform, also, hits in a capilar and systematic way the corruption and the irresponsibility in the administration of financial sources," Rama said.

Standing in the context of territory reform for Himara Municipality, Rama said that this Municipality is foundet on the basis of functional zone and on nothing else.

"About some delicate issues related with History I want to finish a debate that lasts from 20 years and on and relates with Himara. For Me and for Us Himara is like Shkodra, Tropoja, Dibra and Kavaja and like all municipalities created on functionality basis, and nothing else. But the fact that in Himara lives a part of Greek minority, this dosen't mean more that respectin their rights and freedom," Rama stressed.
