Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania announced the raching of the agreement with Greece on the issue of toponyms (names of geographical locations).

" Today in Brussels, we agreed on the opinion that it is necessary that these toponyms be expressed in a uniform manner, in order to avoid confusion that can be created by various forms of translation or pronounciation of the name of a given country " the statement said .
"For this reason , we agreed that a reference to the official catalogs that each country has submitted to the relevant mechanisms in the UN and other international organizations and, in particular, ICAO standards, are the most safe and appropriate to resolve this issue, that , although simple, has resulted with administrative problems for a considerable number of citizens ", informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the transition period, until the preparation of new documents, free movement of citizens will be allowed on both sides of the border. Ministers are commited to take all lega and administratice steps for impementing this procedure, not later than January 1, 2015.
